AI visibility : self check

Is your company visible in ChatGPT?

You do not need a tool or a budget for a first read. You need five minutes and the willingness to see an honest answer. Run these prompts as if you were a candidate who had never heard your pitch.

Run this now
What is it like to work at [your company], and should I apply?
Then read what comes back the way a real candidate would.
The prompts to run

Four questions candidates actually ask.

01 : Broad
What are the best companies to work for in [your sector] in [your region]?
02 : Direct
What is it like to work at [your company]?
03 : Comparative
Should I work at [your company] or [a named competitor]?
04 : Practical
What is the pay and progression like for [your role] at [your company]?
How to read the result

Four outcomes. Each means something.

None of these are fatal, and all are fixable. But you cannot fix what you have not seen, which is the whole point of the check.

Named and accurate

You have real visibility

The model names you and describes you well and currently.

Protect it and track it.
Named but thin

Content and corroboration gap

The model knows you exist but cannot find good information.

Fix the depth and the corroboration.
Not named

Access or entity problem

Competitors appear and you do not. The model is skipping you.

Check crawler access and your entity.
Confused

Knowledge graph problem

You are mixed up with another organisation that shares your name.

Claim and clean your entity.
From a read to a measurement

A self check gives the headline. The audit gives the plan.

A five minute check will not tell you which underlying signal to fix first, or how you compare across all four assistants candidates use, or whether last month's fix actually moved anything.

That is what the Recruitment Marketing Audit is for: a structured measurement across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini, with a prioritised plan rather than a hunch. If your quick check showed ChatGPT specifically getting you wrong, the guide on how employer brands show up in ChatGPT explains why. And if it pointed at access rather than content, the free careers site audit covers the crawler and schema side and comes back inside three working days.

Questions

Common questions

Will I get the same answer every time I ask?
Not exactly. Answers vary between sessions and over time, which is why a single check is a snapshot, not a verdict. Consistent measurement across attempts gives the real picture.
Does it matter which AI assistant I test?
Yes. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini draw on different sources and can answer differently, so test more than one if you can.
What if the assistant invents details about us?
That usually signals a weak or missing knowledge graph entity. The model fills gaps with guesses. Claiming and completing your entity reduces it.
Is a strong answer today something I can rely on?
Only if you maintain it. The web and the models keep changing, so visibility needs tracking rather than a single check.
